Tennessee Family with 18 Children

A Tennessee couple has had 18 children at all; however, they still desire for two more babies. The Bates family currently lives in a five-bedroom house outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. Zach is their oldest child at the age of 22, and Judson is their youngest at 11 months. According to the news, this couple is intent on seeking medical care to help them even the score to 10 girls and 10 boys. Their 4,000-square-feet home is a strict no TV, no Internet zone and eight of the girls, from 20 years old to two years old, share a bedroom, their bunk beds so that the children waste time by playing their musical instruments. Interestingly, all of the children are talented for violins, pianos, guitars, and even singing and they often travel to put on concerts at the old homes.

Kelly Bates mostly spends her life to be pregnant because she has been pregnant every year for the past 22 years. However, for her, pregnancy is a normal thing: ‘It feels more normal to me to be pregnant than not be pregnant. I’m happy holding a baby.’ In fact, the Bates is evangelical Christians who do not believe in the use of birth control. Kelly, a 44-year-old stay-at-home mom doesn’t shy away from the thought of having more children. “Whatever the Lord desires.” she said. “We decided, a long time ago, to let the Lord decide how many children we would have.” “It would be like saying more blessings.” said Gil Bates, a 46-year-old tree surgeon. Kelly Bates has endured delivery 18 separate times, no twins, no c-sections and fourteen of those births were at home, meaning no epidurals or anesthesia.
